hoffalady > Monday Nov 30 '09 laundry... exciting right? I woke up all fired up about the day but I just drug ass all day long! I just felt drained and blah. and w/ so much to do... well, at least I got the laundry done. i did get a call following up on a fee sitting i offered to a co-worker pf the hubby and his family in celebration of their newest member, a lil girl. i've got a shoot scheduled w/ them this Saturday morning at their home. i didn't want to drag a two month old lil pumpkin out into the 50* weather.... hopefully tomorrow there is more pep in my step....
hoffalady > Sunday Nov 29 '09 yay for xmas!! well as you can see, we decorated our tree today! the boys found their elf ears and wore them all day. so cute! they were also excited to know that they would get a string of lights each in their bedrooms. I still can't believe the hubby said we could get our tree so early! and that it was all his idea- zero prodding from me! he usually says we have to wait until at leasr Dec 15th. probably since we've spent most of our xmas's in California and getting a tree this early would surely mean it would be long dead and dried out by xmas. not the case here! woohoo!! other than the tree, not too much got accomplished today. it was raining and cold out. so we hung out... and i put off laundry until tomorrow! ha!
hoffalady > Saturday Nov 28 '09 what a great day! we headed over to the lake and went for a walk. I got to shoot my guys, which always makes me happy. the weather was so beautiful! it got up to 68*, clear gorgeous skies! fantastic day to spend some time outside. for the first time, I participated in a photo scavenger hunt. there is a group of Facebook called Twenty Photos and once a month, they post a list of things to photograph. typically you're allowed a weekend, Friday thru Sunday, to get it all done. it was actually more fun than I thought it would be. you can see those twenty shots here. we also stopped off and got our xmas tree! horary!! it's not even December 1st and I've already got the smell of pine in my house! it's kinda ironic since I try so hard to live a green life, but I absolutely have to have a live tree at xmas. the one we got this year is a beauty! we'll decorate it and the house tomorrow! can't wait! the hubby put the lights up on the front and back porches too. since we move every 3 years, it's hard to always have enough lights for each house. so we tend to just stick w/ a couple of strands here and there, focusing most of the decorations inside the house. a fire in the fire pit, wienie roast and smores finished off a great day! about the photo, while I was a member of the daily community, I avoided leaves in the fall like the plague. you see so many of them and I never wanted to just be one leaf in the bunch. now, I don't care! :0)
hoffalady > Friday Nov 27 '09 nothing fancy about today's photo- just a shadowy self portrait taken w/ my iphone. the bestest thing about turkey day is eating leftovers for breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day! i may turn into a turkey before long but it'll all be worth it! that's my black Friday!! speaking of that, i've never understood those people who go shopping on black Friday. i mean i understand there are some great finds out there but for me, saving a couple of bucks is not worth my sanity. i already have such a low threshold for stupid and/or rude people as it is. i can't imagine anything that would make it worth my while- ever! i called my client this afternoon, my cancellation from Monday, to check on her health. she is still feeling crappy but hopes that she'll be well enough so that we can reschedule for next weekend. fingers crossed! i've got big plans this weekend.... nothing and more nothing! just hanging out w/ all my menfolk! maybe i'll convince them that they need their photos taken.....
hoffalady > Thursday Nov 26 '09 happy turkey day! no, this isn't leftovers, which we do have plenty of. it's the hubby's "dinner". he had to work tonite from 4pm to midnight. so for the first time ever we had thanksgiving lunch. it actually turned out get because I was able to clean up the kitchen before bed. typically, like so many of us, I'm still barely functional from the turkey day feast/gluttony. this year I didn't do so bad. :0) I have so much to be thankful for especially in this time for unemployment and financial uncertainty. I'm thankful for my husband, a man who knows exactly who I am and still has stuck w/ me for the last 14 yrs. I'm thankful for his commitment to our country, his love for his sons, his patience, his encouragement and his friendship. I'm thankful for my family, my boys who are healthy, intelligent and loving. my Dad who calls me just to say hi and who has always been a constant source of encouragement. his adorable wife June, whose friendship I treasure and whose loving heart I admire. my brother Mike who never fails to make me laugh even when I'm so angry at him. my brother Chris who makes the effort to connect. my lu... my bestest friend... without her I'd be laughing at my own jokes. I am so proud of her for, pardon the phrase because even I hate it, but in this case it fits, putting herself back on her list of priorities. my friends, old, new, internet, photographer and true every one of them. you make a difference in my life even if we are just exchanging bards on Facebook.... I have a roof over my head, enough money to pay my bills, people in my life who love me and a full belly. we should all be so lucky....
hoffalady > Wednesday Nov 25 '09 not really too much went on today. the hubby was only at work for a few hours this morning. I finished up the laundry and vacuumed. I also did some prep work for tomorrow. I made the hubby and T these banana nut muffins. they say they are delish. I'll have to take their word for it since me and bananas aren't friends. then we just hung out. which is actually my favorite thing to do for family time. I'm a homebody for the most part. going places and visiting people is great and all but if I had my choice I'd be home, in my jammies, snuggled up w/ my boys. we did watch Up again after dinner and again I cried. god I love that movie. if you haven't seen it- go get it! you won't regret it.
hoffalady > Tuesday Nov 24 '09 the boys and I had to run by the commissary this morning to get a couple of last minute things for turkey day. it never fails to amaze me how during the holidays people can be such jerks. for every one kind person there are 5 rude, impatient asses. now don't get me wrong I'm not Sally Sunshine, either. I want to get what I need and get the hell outta there, but that's how I am all the time! and trust me, most of the time I do it w/ a smile. while the boys and I were waiting for a register in the self checkout 40 items or less time, an older "gentleman" wanted to get passed us. instead of saying excuse me or even trying to get my attention, he pushed my cart and Q out of the way. happy thanksgiving, pal! prime example of why I try to do all my xmas shopping online because it gets worse after thanksgiving. common courteous is a lost quality is so many people. I really find it sad that my two sons, ages 11 & 13, are kinder and more generous than most of the adults I came into contact w/ today. driving home this evening after dropping Vernando off at his house, we were stuck on the highway because of a wreck. it took us about 30 minutes to go 6 miles. I took a couple of shots of the harvested cotton fields but the clouds and rain weren't helping make anything pretty. I got this shot as the ambulance went screaming by us. a few minutes later, we drove by the two cars involved in the accident. the Audi only had front end damage from what I could see but the Saturn's roof was completely flattened. I just hope everyone involved will recover. on a lighter note, I did speak w/ a client this morning. he wanted to order a wrapped canvas of my absolute favorite shot from his family shoot last month. unfortunately the original a tight shot on their faces w/ room for cropping. if they still want that shot, they'll have to order it in a larger size and get the rolled canvas to have framed. the best part of the conversation was: "You have definitely found your calling!" hello affirmation!! :0)

CC watching BSG w/ me taken on my iphone. exciting huh? i was supposed to have a shoot today but my client got a cold over the weekend AND it ended up being foggy and chilly all day/ sp the light have been terrible. we've tentatively rescheduled for this Sunday. fingers crossed she's feeling up to it and the weather cooperates!
hoffalady > Sunday Nov 22 '09 I was supposed to spend the day doing things but that didn't happen. I put off getting everything together for Monday's shoot saying I've got time Monday morning. I didn't go laundry because the boys don't need school clothes tomorrow, no school. so it was a lazy day! hooray! it'll be the last one for a while!! well until next weekend! :0) Q barely touched his dinner and asked to be excuse to go lay down. he was complaining of a headache. I chalked it up to too much video games and not enough water. well, apparently he'd got a lil bug. as soon as he was done brushing his teeth... he was upchucking.... poor munchkin. why do my kids always get sick over school breaks??
