i've seen this project in two varieties.

one is a photo a day and the other is a self portrait a day. both are to log a day in your life over the course of a year while making sure that pick up your camera every day and in the process, improve your skill....

i'm going to do a mixture of the two. i take photos every day no matter what... they just don't all end up here. :o)

hoffalady > July 4 '09 day 355 firepower happy 4th! hope all of you have a safe & fun day! we had a blast, literally! this is the first time we've lived somewhere that you can set off your own fireworks.needless to say the boys all had the best time and i got the play around with shooting fireworks for the first time. the hubby tired a couple of times to get me a shot of the three of them firing off roman candles at the same time. he's the greatest! this is the best shot of it. Q calls it my Ghostbusters shot. lol
hoffalady > July 3 '09 day 354 catch we had a great family day today. up early to go fishing. it's always a crap shoot fishing with my boys. T loves sitting there for hours on end but he gets annoyed (like most fishermen) when he doesn't catch anything. Q, on the other hand, is done after just a few minutes. the hubby was smart enough to give Q a job to do when he was done fishing, collect kindling for our firewood. he's a smarty pants! i had my camera- so all was right with the world. T caught this one little fish. he looks so proud, doesn't he? i also took this shot of Q that i completely love! after stopping to pick up a new cordless phone (ours was in storage for 6 months and now doesn't work!!), we got the boys non-coffee frapps and fireworks!! i can't believe all the exploding stuff we got for just $10! nothing like waiting until the last minute to get some good prices! ha! the boys can't wait until tomorrow nite when we have our own private fireworks show. Mama called too. she and Daddy were planning on surprising us by driving up and spending this weekend w/ us. unfortunately that plan fizzled but they are going to head up some time this month since it's the last of the boys summer vacation.
hoffalady > July 2 '09 day 353 cheat so not HDR! it's a Lightroom preset that does a damned good job if you ask me. i think it would have been cooler if i'd gotten at least another row of bricks at the top and all of the hanging sprigs of the plant. i spent way too much time downloading free LR presets and playing with them. i'll eventually delete most of them, but it was entertaining. :0) i wanted to thank all of you who took the time to really comment on yesterday. i do agree that once those words leave my lips, they can't be taken back. i might be best simply to voice my feelings, making sure i only talk about *me* and do it via email. that way there is no chance of me saying something i'd regret, ya know? or i could always point them here to my 365... lmao
hoffalady > July 1 '09 day 352 cherries i didn't love anything i shot today. so i spent far too much time in LR and this is whatcha get. blah. do you ever let something go thinking it's not worth the bother only to have it be someting that lingers in your mind and ends up getting more energy that you'd wanted to give it? that's how my day was for the most part. my brother and sister in laws move has got me all spun out. not that they are moving, because i want them to be happy and do what's best for them... it's that i was the last one to find out... that they didn't tell me first hand... i guess what it all boils down to is this is just confirmation of how far apart we've drifted and that makes me so sad. family is so important to me. so i've been wrestling with saying something or just keeping my big mouth closed. hope you had a good Wednesday.....
hoffalady > June 30 '09 day 351 dried today wasn't a great day. i felt off all day, headache & a queasy belly. not good. this was a last minute desperation shot... i hate when i have those. the first day we moved into this house, Q found these tiny flowers in the grass. (Q is my baby. he gives me flowers just about every day.) anyway, i put them on my desk and basically forgot about them. the largest one of the three is smaller than a dime. today is Mama's birthday! happy birthday to my Mama!! i love you!
hoffalady > June 29 '09 day 350 tractor-box my neighbors are away for a week. so the boys and i are watering thier plants, collecting their mail, etc. it gives me a chance to explore their yard w/o feeling weird about it. lol the boys took turns shooting and then they let me have my camera back. both wanted me to use one of their photos. that wouldn't have been fair. so in the end, i let them choose how i edited it. they thought this was the coolest thing ever. i love Mondays....
hoffalady > June 28 '09 day 349 snacker T spotted this guy while we were eating dinner. i knew he/she would fly away if i tried going outside... so, i got a bunch of hazing looking photos shot thru my dirty windows. i've never wishes i did windows more! my real photo op passed this morning w/o me even thinking of grabbing my camera! T and i were on our way to the grocery store when i spotted a box turtle in the middle of the road. i pulled over, switched on my hazards and hopped out to get him safely to the other side of the street. he was huge! shell about a foot long from head to tail and heavy too!! and the best part?? he peed on me! lmao! that'll teach me to save lives.... hope you had a great weekend!!
hoffalady > June 27 '09 day 348 everything Phish Food used to be my favorite Ben & Jerry's ice cream. not it's everything.... so delish! great Saturday for me, hanging out with my guys, splashing in the pool, cuddling on the couch watching movies. i even stayed up late and watched a horror movie with the hubby! don't you just love Saturdays?
hoffalady > June 26 '09 day 347 fluff it's been days, literally, since we've had clouds. nothing but blazing heat, smothering humidity and triple digits on the heat index. so when the light i went outside to see. it's amazing how much cooler you think it is when there are a few buge puffy clouds to block to sun! lol happy birthday June!! i'm so pleased you like your gift!! yay me! :0)
hoffalady > June 25 '09 day 346 humor the boys wanted no part of my camera tonight but they are good kids. they took pity on their mother and humored her. every other shot showed their lack of interest except this one. i think they were just tired and didn't want to be out in the heat any longer than needed. Q worked out with me this morning. T helped me move and stack all the fire wood (from the pear tree). we swam together for hours and even watched A Bugs Life. so it was a pretty packed day for them. i can't believe school starts again in just over a month!!
hoffalady > June 24 '09 day 345 nuzzle today while out running errands, i stopped at one of the many properties that have horses around here. these two were the more curious of the trio. they were so interested in what i was doing too.... but they didn't stand still enough for me in the 100* heat and glaring sunshine. understandable! i didn't love it either but they certainly were funny. while i shot, i was talking to them and they were stone silent but when i turned to leave, the boss lady (looking directly at me in the shot) started stamping the ground and whinnying. it was the cutest thing. the rest of my day didn't go as well. i found out that my brother and sister in law are moving from San Diego to Redding, CA. no big deal beacuse they are doing what they think is the right thing..... my issue is that they didn't tell me. i found out from someone else. we've had a strained relationship ever since they got married, only talking on holidays and birthdays. it's a shame too. i have a strong expectation of family. and while very few people give back to me what i give out, i still think everyone should try just as hard to maintain those relationships. it's sad when they don't.....
hoffalady > June 23 '09 day 344 delivery my birthday gift from Dad & June arrived today, this gorgeous phalaenopsis (moth) orchid. it's huge! it's over 2 feet in height! i really wanted to get a shot that showed it's size but no angle did it justice. this was my favorite shot of it. i liked the angle and the light. it just looks different. i did take a more detailed shot of a bloom. it's here. thank you June for putting so much thought into my gift. it means the world to me that you love me so much. i adore you! and Dad... thanks for Skyping with me! it's so cool to see your face again. i miss it... a lot.
hoffalady > June 22 '09 day 343 onions nothing fancy here. these are my first crop of sweet yellow onions. they are only about the size of a golf ball but i'm pleased with them. it's the first time i've grown onions... tho i did cheat and use starter plants. don't tell my dad! he always uses starters and i usually always start from seeds. is it fall yet??

hoffalady > June 20 '09 day 341 masterpiece this is probably the best sandwich i've ever made. it is a buffalo chicken sandwich on soft French bread w/ mayo, mustard, ranch, Frank's buffalo wing sauce, sliced chicken breast, romaine lettuce, red onion, avocado and baby Swiss. it was so yum! (tomorrow is the last day of birthday week and then i'm back on plan and working out like usual.) the boys enjoyed their sleepover w/ V. i didn't expect anything less, but i was kind of surprised to learn that they had 2 can's of Pepsi each. after their pizza dinner, Q had Jell-O w/ whipped cream and T had 10 cookies! we;re fairly strict when it comes to sweets. typically the boys don't get soda of any kind, considering how much we've spent on braces, maintaining their prefect smiles and sealants. there is one exception to that tho. usually when they are w/ their grandparents (any of the 3 sets of 'em) or at their Gran Grace's (great grandma) house. usually caffeinated soda is something i try to steer them clear of completely. the only sweets they get at home is after dinner if they have eaten all their veggies and those portions are controlled. i think our being strict w/ it tends to make them go a lil overboard when they have the chance to, but that's typical kid stuff. i'm kinda torn about something. tomorrow is Father's Day and the hubby swears he doesn't want or need anything. he's very clear about it- no gift.... but i wanna get him something!!! grrr.....
