hoffalady > Saturday Oct 31 '09 day 441 zombie! happy hollow weenies! according to the boys today was the best day EVER! they had a lil birthday shopping spree w/ their grandparents and great grandma after brekkie. after an early dinner, w/ Tracy & the boys along too, it was party time! since T & Q's birthdays are only 12 days apart, we tend to celebrate them together a lot. ice cream cake and presents are always crowd pleasers! :0) then it was into makeup for trick or treating! T was a zombie and Q was a vampire. we all drove on base to trick or treat. all I can say is WHAT A HAUL! omg! they have enough candy to last them until next Halloween!!! hope y'all had a happy and safe day!
hoffalady > Friday October 30 '09 day 440 doubled my week of T was preempted by this double rainbow that showed up during a split second break in the massive storm we had today. the light looked other worldly. not the greatest shot but it's been so long since i've seen a rainbow! it actually made me miss living in Hawaii..... today was busy. I finished up the house and all before my parents and Gran arrived just before 3 o'clock. I got to spend a few minutes w/ them before I had to head off and pick up Vernando. the roads were flooded on parts of the drive, even on the highway! craziness. so far so good... and I'll even got to bed at a reasonable time too! :0) happy Friday!
hoffalady > Thursday Oct 29 '09 day 439 untitled nothing clever to day. i'm beat. haven't been sleeping well or taking the best care of myself. not what i'd envisioned for this shot but there you have it.
hoffalady > Wednesday October 28 '09 day 438 thirteen today my T turned 13. i honestly can't believe how quickly he's grown. *sigh* more housework, a lil shopping and plenty of birthday preparations today. in our family you get to choose your birthday meal in addition to your cake and ice cream flavors. T's meal of choice this year.... Philly cheese steak sammies w/ regular & sweet potato fries, carrot cake and vanilla ice cream!! that boy can eat! :0) he went to bed w/ a smile on his face singing a lil song about how awesome his day was and how i'm the bestest mama in the world. :0)
hoffalady > Tuesday October 27 '09 day 437 lanky i got a lot done today but still have a ton more to do.... exhausted. tomorrow is more of the same... plus it's T's birthday.
hoffalady > Monday Oct 26 '09 day 436 blue this shot is straight from the camera, zero PP!! i got it using T's black light! it was bedtime by the time i remembered my daily. my first thought was screw it- i'm tired! lol! but my second thought arrived a split second later. i'm glad i didn't give into my laziness! it came out pretty cool. :0) i spent my day cleaning. this week is gonna be full of it as i prepare not only for T's birthday but my parents & Gran's arrival on Friday. not my favorite way to spend my days BUT it keeps my mind off any anxiousness about my father. (what's that saying about not being able to pick your family? that's kinda part of it. lol) my shoot w/ the Hackers over the weekend has generated a bit of buzz at the hubbys work. the hubby said that Chris was showing off the photos to everyone and that every time the two of them spoke, Chris mentioned how pleased they are w/ their photos. two other have mentioned wanting me to do their portraits as well. i'm really excited... i've just gotta wait and see.... and i'm not a fan of waiting... :0p yay Monday! ** oh and about yesterday's shot- Stevie is a terrible subject! she gets nervous around the camera. i had to go to her, lay on the ground and coax her like crazy to stay- otherwise she would have licked the lens or worse! LOL
hoffalady > Sunday October 25 '09 day 435 sniffer what a productive day! i was up before the sun editing. (crazy i know but i get so excited about getting the shots ready for clients! i can't help it!!) i was really surprised at how quickly i got them all done. it was the upload that dragged on.... 4.5 hours.... yikes! thankfully i didn't have any errors cause that would have made me a bit mental. :0) the hubby did his best to keep busy so that i could fully invest all my attentions to my work by detailing both vehicles. he rocks! i took a late morning break to make brekkie. he and i ate out on the back porch. who doesn't love pancakes? and then the usual Sunday laundry marathon while i updated my portfolio and it's slideshow settings for my main page. not too shabby for staying in my jammies all day, huh? :0p
hoffalady > Saturday October 24 '09 day 434 Hackers this afternoon i had a family portrait shoot w/ the Hackers. the weather was beautiful and the people were the best! they did a fantastic job and made my job so much fun!! even Pumpkin, their elderly pooch, was a rock star!! i've got gobs of editing to do!! yay!! thank you Chris, Jennifer, Tyler, Katelynn and Pumpkin for a fantastic afternoon! here's a sneak peek before i get consumed w/ my editing!! can you tell i'm stoked? LOL :0)
hoffalady > Friday October 23 '09 day 433 cinnamon it's a been sucha long week and i'm afraid next week will be a lil bit more jam packed w/ stuff. so something simple and comforting to end my long week.... hot coca w/ whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. the shot didn't come out as i'd anticipated but that's alright. happy Friday!
hoffalady > Thursday Oct 22 '09 day 432 violin first of all lemme say that i hate this shot. all day rain and grey skies were uninspiring. tho this evening the wind was picking up and tearing leaves from the trees. that could have been great w/o the rain. this was taken after dinner but by then my idea for the shot was no longer optional. blah. fotoeffects asked about yesterday's shot. since i was driving at 40 mph at the time, i just had my camera set to auto, w/ no flash. the actual exposure length was 1.6 seconds. i cropped the lower edge of the shot out (tiniest bit of my hood) and adjusted the blacks to smooth out the grain in LR.
hoffalady > Wednesday Oct 21 '09 day 431 runway it was a nice lil domestic day! i found some great flannel sheets and new uber fuzzy blankets for the boys. i surprised them w/ washed linens and freshly made beds. my boys get absolutely giddy when i make their beds. it's the cutest thing. unfortunately, i got a call from my Mama today. she said she and Daddy won't be going on the turkey day trip at all now. i didn't realize how much stress she was under about the whole thing. she's a financial planner and studying to be a notary. she's got her big test coming up in Dec. so if she's not working at her office, working from home, hosting seminars or off meeting clients- she's studying. the recession has been hard on her business and she's been working her tail off. she and daddy both have to work the day before turkey day and would be driving out on Thanksgiving. that would only give them half a day w/ us. so that's off for this year. sorry Boo!! i would have loved to spend a lil time w/ you too!! maybe next year? we've only got 1 more Thanksgiving after this year and it's an annual family trip. odds are we'll be there! :0) today's shot is a bit different and a first for me too.i love night time traffic shots but don't really have anywhere close that's safe enough (or interesting enough either) to do it out here in the country. so i put my camera on the dash while i was driving Vernando home tonight and just shot randomly. it was actually really fun to have to wait until i got home to see what i'd ended up with. whatcha think?
hoffalady > Tuesday October 20 '09 day 430 changeling not a bad day. the weather was gorgeous! warm, clear and breezy!! such a treat!! the hubby was feeling well enough to go to work and said he's no longer in any pain, just sore. the boys had good days at school and even discovered that the latest Vladimir Tod book (teen vampire). both boys even agreed to do a lil location scouting with me for this weekends shoot. the only dark lil rain cloud on the day was find out that the hubby's turkey day leave won't be as long as we'd hoped. we'll drive to South Toledo Bend on Wednesday and drive home on Friday. quick turn around. usually we get more time off but most of his division is taking leave too and they are trying not to have too much overlap. so lame but not unexpected. i'm just thankful to have him home. we've been really lucky throughout his career and he's only missed the birth of 1 son, 3 turkey day's and 2 xmas's. not to shabby over a 14.5 year Naval career. today's shot is my T. my lil changeling. next week he'll turn 13. it's mindboggling how quickly he's grown..... thank you so much for all the well wishes for the hubby's recovery. y'all are the best!! and when i told the boys how many people commented on their grades... well, they got a lil embarrassed.
hoffalady > Monday Oct 19 '09 day 429 honors the hubby had oral surgery this morning. he ended up being in more pain than he anticipated. so i did my best to keep him entertained, fed (soft food only) and comfortable. poor guy. i'm hoping he'll wake up feeling better tomorrow. today was report card day! both boys made A's and B's, w/ one C thrown in for T. with all A's and B's, Q made the honor roll.... he also made my daily.
hoffalady > Sunday October 18 '09 day 428 leggy another mellow Sunday in the Hoffman house! football, Facebook and family.... or something like that! :0) how about my Pats? 59-0?? could the Titans be any worse? did they even show up to the game? wow.... the only kink in my day was towards the end (other than not having a daily shot). a couple of my friends on FB, people i grew up with, brought out their political soapboxes. i think my status update expresses how i feel about it all.... "April Hoffman loves that we live in a country where we can have differing points of view... i only wish people would respect your opinion as YOURS not an attack on them or "family values" or some such nonsense... it's an opinion... we don't have to agree or force our views on anyone else.. it's called respect. peace. love. respect." back to the grind tomorrow.... hope y'all had a great weekend! oh and thanks for the comments on the Bel Air! :0)
hoffalady > Saturday October 17 '09 day 427 cherry first of all this shot isn't normally my style. i'm the keep it simple and clean chick... but i really wanted to make this '56 Chevy Bel Air pop. there were a handful of shots that i also liked and did a bit of PP on them. you can check them out in my Americana gallery if you wanna. :0) i had the bestest day today! we went across town to a tiny lil fall festival here. it wasn't anything super exciting but the weather was beautiful (cool and clear), the sun was shining and the smell of funnel cake lingered in the air. plus deep down i'm a car girl. i had a meeting w/ clients this afternoon, too. we talked about doing their family fall portraits and scheduled them for next weekend. yay! it feels like forever since i've photographed someone not related to me...... i'm stoked. did you have a good day?
